I AM SO SICK AND TIRED OF WLW SHOWS BEING CANCELLED. WE SHOULDN’T HAVE TO BE GRATEFUL TO GET A SECOND SEASON. THE SAPPHIC COMMUNITY SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO HAVE REPRESENTATION IN THE MEDIA LIKE MLM COUPLES. THERE IS MONETARY GAIN IN FEMALE CENTRIC SHOWS—PEOPLE LOVE THEM AND WILL WATCH THEM AGAIN AND AGAIN. WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE IN CANCELING A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN. WHAT WAS THE MF REASON.
i grew up on ball, the sound of a ball hitting my mitt and the smell of the field are deeply personal to me. watching a league of their own (tv show) and seeing lesbian and queer female representation in my sport is something i cannot put into words. the pride and happiness i felt watching those actors play and laugh and cry was felt viscerally.
these shows are incredibly impactful and deserve to continue and corporations need to understand the importance of maintaining these storylines. sapphic shows are not collateral to be dropped when the annual corporate allyship quota has been reached.
conversations about ability, disability, and pain (especially chronic pain) need to become less socially “taboo” because there’s so many people who don’t realize how much pain they’re actually in. n they don’t realize because they just assume everyone has these problems, bc no one talks about it.
i think it’s important to be open about what amount, level, etc. of pain is considered “normal” bc a lot of people don’t realize until it’s too late
PSA the normal amount of pain when you’re just sitting/standing around not doing anything strenuous and don’t have any kind of injury or illness is zero. if you are consistently always in pain when you haven’t had anything happen to cause that pain, that’s not normal.

Fun fact! Having a job every day is actually a fairly new thing.
In olden times, people had daily chores and other things to do but their workload/ daily working hours was actually much lower than it is today. Even in farming communities.
The concept of working super hard every day actually comes from capitalism, which in turn comes from Puritanical ideology.
The Puritans believed in salvation through work and in no play.
Early capitalists adopted this ideology because it meant higher productivity and therefore more money if their factories were running near constantly.
The idea of needing to be continuously productive in order to be useful/ allowed things like food and shelter, is actually quite an insidious ideal that is deeply rooted in the American culture.
4 day work weeks have actually proven to be more productive than the 5 day week. But corporations won’t adopt it willingly because it means less of a stranglehold on their workers.

there’s construction happening outside and i woke up this morning, hazily thought “goddammit the wizards are fighting again,” and rolled over and went back to sleep
oh good tags: #one time I woke up in the middle of the night and saw a shadowy figure standing in front of my window. I didn’t pay it any mind and instead decided to roll over and fall back asleep. later on in the morning did I find out that the figure was in actuality my step-dad coming to close my cracked open window. pretty crazy to think about how it could have been some creep who had come to murder me in my sleep and I straight up didn’t care. #come to bring my life to a grizzly end in the dead of night? #alright! #just give me five more minutes thx
more good and deeply concerning stories from the notes!
#once there was a house fire at the house next to us and it was QUICKLY spreading, and I tried to wake my sister up so we could evacuate our house. and she said “wake me up when it becomes an issue” and went back to sleep. #i…
#our house was fine. the house next door burned totally to the ground
if you twisted my arm and MADE me choose the moment when i suspected asami first realized that the feelings she had for korra were more than just some stupid crush that she would get over eventually, i would probably choose this. i mean things were probably too intense for her to be entirely conscious of it just yet, but there’s something about the fierceness in her eyes while she stares back at their enemies as if daring them to try to take korra away from her that makes me think she’s in hopelessly deep by this point.
Where we come from, “cheer” is not a word that you hear very often, but that’s what we are, the cheerleaders of East Compton High School. They should really call us inspiration leaders, because that’s what we do. We inspire the people from our neighborhoods to believe that our team can win.
